In July 2016 I taught on the one-week inaugural School of Humanities Summer Intensive at the Royal College of Art, exploring Criticism and Curating in Art & Design. Students from all over the world joined a week of lively discussion, workshops, crits and gallery visits with curators and academics such as Gareth Evans, Brian Dillon, David Crowley, Jane Pavitt and Jeremy Millar. Based on the expansive theme of Evocative Objects, Evocative Experiences, we explored curatorial and critical histories and theories, resulting in students formulating a final pitch for a project to take away and make happen in the world. The students were brilliant and it was an honour to be involved in the first of this kind of summer school at the RCA.
