On October 4th 2020 from 2-3pm: an in conversation between myself, jeweller Lucie Gledhill and photographer artist Kasia Wozniak, discussing their collaborative project SWAP.
Gledhill is known for her work with precious metals, weaving wire and making chain. Wozniak predominantly works in wet plate collodion photography. Together they have been exploring the use of nitric acid, through which they are able to ‘swap’ silver from chain to photograph. Silver dissolved in nitric acid challenges its possibilities in both jewellery and photography, in its solid and liquid forms. Their project celebrates its qualities as an elemental material.
They have exhibited their series of ‘Swaps’ at Collect International Art Fair For Modern Craft And Design at Somerset House in February 2020 and the Goldsmiths Fair 2020.
