Like many, I have written my whole life. Almost every day. Creative writing, journaling and reflection, often on everyday occurrences and thoughts, but generally on nature - a large word, but the main one that serves to pulls together reflection on landscape, leaves and weather.
The Hoosac Journal invited me to publish something for which I would not usually be known. Such an amazing opportunity could only mean it was time to let out some personal reflection, as well as illustrations - as vulnerable as this felt. The resulting piece, entitled ‘Small Paths’, is about woodland, nature, countryside, childhood and miscarriage. Written during May 2020, it is also entangled in Covid19 era isolation.
